“Who Am I? What Am I? What is the Real Me?

These are questions that often arise in moments of introspection, questioning the nature of our existence. Are we merely this body, this mind, or this breath and energy? To understand the essence of the "self," we need to explore the relationship between our body, energy, and mind. In doing so, we can journey deeper into the core of our being, where the illusion of self (Ahamkara) is formed. This self, however, is a mere reflection of the true self—our consciousness. What we often consider "life" is an illusion, and the true reality lies in the silence within us.

Let’s dive into an exploration of the self and gain a deeper understanding of our body, energy, and mind.

1. Body: The Perfect System

The body is a well-constructed system with both visible and invisible aspects.

A. Visible Body:

  1. Physical Body: This refers to the physical structure, anatomy, and material of the body.
  2. Bioplasmic Body: It relates to our visibility, aliveness, and expression, like a happy or sad face and body movements.

B. Invisible Body:

  1. Energy Body: The power and strength that support movement and provide vital force to the body.
  2. Mind Body: This aspect encompasses thoughts, desires, awareness, command, realization, and mental force.
  3. Psychic Body: A combination of energy and mind body, associated with chakras, and governing emotions and feelings.
  4. Astral Body (Jeevatma): The spiritual body that includes energy, mind, and psychic centers. Rebirth occurs from this level after death. It is limited in scope.
  5. Soul Body (Jeevanta Aatma): This is the consciousness or true self, a limitless state of truth and realization.
  6. Cosmic Body (Param Anand Brahma Bodh): A blissful state connected to the cosmos, also known as the causal body. Reincarnation happens from here.
  7. Nirvana Body: The state of ultimate liberation, beyond birth and death.

2. Energy: The Foundation of Existence

Energy is the core of everything in existence. In mythology, Shakti (the feminine energy) and Shiva (the masculine complement) together manifest creation.

A. Types of Energy:

  1. Anitya (Kinetic Energy): External, active energy that creates a magnetic field, impacting others and connecting to eternal energy.
  2. Nitya (Potential Energy): Internal, passive, and eternal energy, connected to silence, awakening, and self-realization.

Both types of energy reside within the chakras. When the individual energies of all seven chakras unite, they form a complete circuit in the body, leading to a state of nothingness and liberation above the crown chakra (Sahasrara). This is the gateway to Mukti (liberation) and ultimate peace (Prashanta).

3. Mind: The Gateway to Self-Realization

The mind is a dynamic state, consisting of an outer and an inner dimension.

A. Outer Mind (Bahir Man):

  1. Conscious Mind (Chetan Man): The active, alert part of the mind, where brainwave frequencies range from 8 Hz to 14 Hz (Alpha level). This governs our daily activities.
  2. Subconscious Mind (Avachetan Man): Semi-active, with a frequency range of 4 Hz to 8 Hz. It processes memories and automatic actions.
  3. Unconscious Mind (Achetan Man): The fully passive state with a frequency range of 0 Hz to 4 Hz. This is where deep sleep and stored memories reside. Awakening from this state leads to the inner mind.

B. Inner Mind (Antar Man):

  1. Superconscious Mind: Awakening of senses and realization of impermanence, leading to inner awareness.
  2. Supraconscious Mind: A deeper level of self-realization, touching nothingness, a permanent state of awareness.
  3. Supreme Conscious Mind: Total immersion in nothingness, where cosmic realization occurs. This is a permanent state of inner freedom.
  4. Cosmic Conscious Mind: The final stage of complete nothingness, wholeness, and surrender to the universe, leading to Nirvana (liberation).
